Giant Hawaiian Yellow Dragon Fruit Cactus (hylocereus undetus) – Rare – Giant Gold Dragon produces the largest yellow fruit in the world. The fruits produced by this large Hawaiian variety are white fleshed and kiwi-like sweet. Easily adapted to a variety of climates and soils this night blooming cactus is cultivated around the world in tropical regions for the fruit it bears.
Dragon Fruit Cactus will continue to grow indefinitely if the roots can attach themselves to moist organic matter, wooden post or burlap wraped totem. The growth rate, flowering, and fruit production of Giant Hawaiian Yellow will vary greatly depending on soil type, humidity, sunlight, temperature and other factors. A few stems may be trimmed prior to shipping to reduce transpiration and travel stress.

CONTAINER SIZE
All Dragon Fruit Cactus varieties grow very well in patio containers. Allow enough room for growth generally a 8″ to a 16″ diameter, 12″ deep container with a totem will suffice to get started. Remember the looser the roots, the taller and healthier your Dragon Fruit Cactus will be. When the plant becomes root bound its growth will slow, at that point it is time for a larger pot.

FERTILIZER

BEFORE YOU PLANT OUTDOORS

Note:
Before leaving, Dragon Fruit Cactus are inspected, watered, and pruned. Larger plants, generally those that ship in 8″ pots, will be topped to 36″ or 48″ overall, depending on the variety, if necessary, to facilitate shipping. Your new plants’ pot is then bagged to ensure that the soil stays in the pot and not loose in the box. Plants are tissue or kraft paper wrapped and generally secured in place with natural biodegradable peanuts.
